Welcome to the neighborhood.

So we are here now in Miami. And being the curious resident that I am, I wanted to know what I was up against. When we find places to live, we try and find safe areas, but having never been to the place it's hard to tell, so we wing it. And hope we make it.

I decided to use Family Watchdog to see how the hood looked.

I have memorized the crime offenders profiles and will be staying clear of anyone that looks like them.

Finally... we are free!

I have mentioned before about living with a roommate. Well I'm going to mention it again.

For those of you who missed it or is new to my life here's how it has been for my husband and I... I'm taking you to the beginning so you can really get a feel.

May 2011- Got married, I moved to Philadelphia to be with my husband (who is also from Oklahoma, but going to eye doctor school there).
February 2012- Moved to Phoenix for husband's first rotation. Lived with my glorious Aunt and it was awesome!
May 2012- Moved to Denver  for 2nd rotation. Lived with a male classmate and while at times wanted to punch myself, it was actually a lot of fun.
August 2012- Moved back to Philadelphia (suburbs this time) for 3rd rotation. Living with a male classmate. ALWAYS want to punch myself. Realizing that our time with our Denver roommate was so great and I would trade him for Philly roommate.
November 2012- Moving to Miami tomorrow for fourth rotation. NO ROOMMATE!!!!! NO ROOMMATE!!!!!

DID YOU READ THAT??? NO ROOMMATE!!!!! We have been married for 18 months and 9 of those months we have had a ROOMMATE!!!!! THAT'S 1/2 OF OUR MARRIAGE. 50%!!! I'm sorry for the all caps typing. I'M SO EXCITED I CAN'T HELP IT!!!
(via)

We will be in Miami until May, then he graduates and we have no idea where to next (everyone pray Oklahoma!). So I guess we technically aren't out of the woods for a roommate free house (do babies count? Don't worry, I'm not planning on that either) but we have 6 months of freedom! No more cleaning up after someone else that isn't my husband, no more trying to get to the remote first, no more throwing away expired food from the refrigerator because our roommate is too dumb to do it on their own, no more wearing a bra!!

I'm freeeeeee!
Bring on the nakedness!!!

Vote Yes on Lee Greenwood's Leather Fringed Jacket

Do what you need to do tomorrow, Americans!

It's Sandy Time.

Today I've been preparing for ol' Sandy to pay us a visit here in Philly.
Valerie is also going to be hanging out with Sandy in NYC.

It could be an interesting couple of days. Or it could be a boring couple of days.
Weather men are wrong more times then they are right. That's a fact. Proven by me.

I have a twin!

I don't normally get into politics or anything related to it. I don't really understand anything about it, but I did just spend the weekend in D.C. so I'm feeling American. But instead of talking politics I'll just share a picture with you.

My friend posted this photo on my Facebook wall, it is originally from Barak Obama's Facebook page.

Did you have to do a double take to make sure that wasn't me chillin with Obama talking on the phone. Yeah me too.

This is my doppelganger, my very liberal, politically informed doppelganger.
I want to know her.

Leggings 101

Today we are talking about leggings. During the fall/winter/ months I live in my leggings. It's part of the reason fall is the best. Especially those crazy colored and patterned leggings.
(via)
Okay, maybe not that crazy.

But this season I'm in a rut. A legging rut. I've talked to a few of my friends and they are also in the same rut! So here is where I come to you blogosphere.

My normal go-to leggings are the basic Target leggings, cheap and I can wear them and not sweat. But they aren't perfect. I'm searching for the perfect pair. All of the leggings I have found have been too thin and you see your panties right through them, which means you have to wear a long enough shirt so you don't look like a hoochie. Also, I can't justify spending a ton of money on leggings.

Has anyone found the perfect pair of basic black leggings? If so, where are you finding these hidden jewels? Share your secrets with me internet world! My undies should be reserved for home, not seen out in public.

Single Girl Swag: How I Handled the Fat Joke

In the name of privacy, I've decided to change the names of the people involved in the story; just in case by some random chance these people's eyes actually fall onto this page. Let's get started..

John and Benny are brothers. John is older than Benny but not by too much. I'm friends with both brothers. One day while Benny was out of town, John asked if I could ever see a future romantically with Benny... An interesting and hard to answer question, I did the best I could. I found myself listing all the reasons I thought it would never work out between Benny and I romatincally. John agreed with many of my points, but apparently felt the need to add his own input into the mix. His feedback still makes me laugh and cringe at the same time. He said,
"Yeah, plus you know Benny would probably try and tell you what to eat and what not to eat and you would just be like, 'SCREW YOU, I WILL EAT WHATEVER I WANT.'"
................................ Yeah.

That's exactly what I was thinking too, John. Thanks!

The comment, although harmless and honestly I 'think' meant almost as a compliment (you just have to know John) still left me feeling pretty crappy. I was so shocked, I didn't really know how to respond besides a simple, "yeah."

To be honest, this is kind of the replay of what I was feeling inside.

I started out being like...
Then I was all like...
Then the rage went to this...
Then it go me feeling motivated to do this...

Then, after some inner turmoil...

I realized that worrying about any of this is beyond ridiculous. I know John didn't mean anything bad by the comment and as singletons, we gotta learn to roll with the punches. Despite what that ugly little devil on my shoulder wants me to believe, I know I am worth someone's love.. no matter what I eat.
Then I was back to feeling like this...

Married to Jonas

WE HAVE CABLE AGAIN!

Last year we decided to quit cable after football season (big college sports fans over here) and really, it went pretty well.  Netflix kept me entertained solely for months, but then I invested in some bunny ears to catch the local shows and all was fine and dandy.  Big high five for us.  That was huge.  Well, huge for me.

Guess what?  Fall is quickly approaching, so is football season, so it's cable time again!  My guy bought the cheapest package possible and guess what, basic is basic, friends.

No Bravo.  No ABC Family.  No MTV.  No Lifetime.  No TLC.  Did I mention no bravo?

But guess what does come with the basic of basic... E!  I'LL TAKE IT.  So as I'm watching E! for hours because it's all I have, I see a new-to-me show, Married to Jonas.

 via

So I watch 1 episode, and another, and another... it's not bad.  I actually find it entertaining!  Lucky for me, today is a marathon of show after show after show.

Thank you, E!.  Thank you Ryan Seacrest! And thank you basic cable for providing me Labor Day entertainment.

Book Bag.

Warning. This is another post about books. I've been writing a lot about reading... what's happening to me!?

I've never been the type of girl that can carry a tiny purse as her main purse. Okay, maybe in junior high when all I had to carry around was a tampon, but since I was able to date, drive, and have a cell phone big bags have been my staple. Of course I have many (my husband would say hundreds) of different sized bags in a range of colors. I love my small clutches and over the shoulder ones for a concert, or night on the town when I need to be hands free... for dancing of course. But the big satchels and hobos are my comfort. I love being able to be prepared for anything and everything. bandaids? multiple writing utensils? coverup? lens cloths? endless amounts of bobby pins that fall to the bottom? I've got it all. Besides all of the random junk I always have a cardigan and if not one, then two cameras in my Marry Poppins bag. It's a must.

Since I found my new love of reading I now always have a book in my bag. You never know when you are going to get stuck at the post office or traffic (as the passenger, come on now, I don't read and drive). The other day I was having issues with a certain postal company and I had to go search for a package. Once I got there I reached into my bag to pull out my book and it wasn't there. Noo! I took it out of my bag not 30 minutes before I needed it. And of course, I had to wait for a solid 45 minutes until they could find my box. I can only search around on Instagram, Twitter, and "with friends" games for so long. I wanted my book. I needed my book.

I learned my lesson. Never take the book out of the bag. And I am not a patient person.

Have you ever been stuck somewhere and needed your book?

Confession Session: What Makes Us Feel Confident.

26.2
Two interlocking hearts;
one with the American flag inside it,
the other with the Australian flag inside it.
Those two things are permanently engraved on my skin for the rest of my life... and I couldn't be happier about it. Those are the two tattoos I have on my body and every single time I see them I smile. I know everyone says, "what about when you're older?" I understand that mentality, however I just don't see those things being more important than the arthritis, the grey hair, the daytime television... you get the idea. These markings are constant reminders of some of the most rewarding, enjoyable and even trying times in my life. I am filled with joy every single time I am reminded of those periods in my life. Also, as a Christian, especially a Christian born and raised in the "bible belt," tattoos can be rather controversial. Instead of going there, I will just let Pastor Craig do the honors. He says it better than I ever could!

So, there's this mini skirt.

It's black and white striped, sits just above the knees, and fits snug as a bug.  It's quite unlike my style, and I just bought it on a whim last year.  But I realized when I  wear it, I seem to stand a little straighter, walk with a bit of sass, and smile just a little bigger.  Honestly, I don't know what it is about that skirt, but it always guarantees a fun night with my girlfriends!  If only that skirt could talk... I bet it feels pretty confident too.

I'm going to be that crazy girl that says that my boobs make me feel confident. But before you all give me that 'what a skank' look, let me explain. I have the chest of an 8 year old boy. Race cars could drive down it, it makes Kansas look like Colorado. You with me? I have zero boobs. And it's cool. I'm cool with it, always have been. I was always the one to flash my girlfriends in the sorority house (yes that does happen), never embarrassed to be seen without a bra on. Shoot, I don't even have to wear a bra half the time! I'm confident with them. They make me feel unique and special, they add to my youthfulness. But as much as I love them I always thought that no guy would ever love my little baby tities. Guys love boobs, and mine are the smallest size bra you can buy at Victoria Secret. I didn't think someone would want to be married to a tiny chested woman. But I was wrong. The one God made for me loves me exactly how I am. My husband loves them. Him loving them makes me even more confident to rock my baby boobs.

My senior year of high school, I got some fake glasses.  This was waaaaay back in 2003, before wearing fake glasses was the hipster thing to do.  I got them because I had always always always wanted glasses (ever since my older sister got some when I was 6, and I tried on this pair of pink glasses that had butterflies attached to them at the optometrist and was beyond devastated that I couldn't have them).  Turned out, when I wore my fakies, I instantly (felt like I) looked intelligent.  I wore fake glasses to every single exam and final I took in college.  Every one.  And I passed them all.  Then I got older and realized that I actually couldn't see.  Joy of joys, I needed REAL GLASSES!  So now, I have real glasses with prescriptions, and they make me feel more confident, too.  I feel more confident in the practical matters, like now being able to recognize people's faces from more than 10 feet away and read street signs while driving, but also glasses make me feel smart and powerful, and even kinda sassy, in a sort of naughty librarian way, which is a great way to go through my day!

Girl Power

The ladies had a very good Olympics.
  1. 29 of the 46 U.S. gold medals were won by women.  The U.S. team also consisted of more women than men.
  2. (By my count) 8 of those golds won by women were in team sports.
  3. For the first time in history, every single country represented at the Olympics had at least one woman competing, with Saudi Arabia, Brunei and Qatar sending women for the very first time.
  4. 20 of the 38 new world records made at the London Games were broken by women.
  5. One of the most watched sports this year was women's beach volleyball.
  6. Young women won:  from the U.S., gold medals went to 15- and 17-year-old swimmers, five teenaged gymnasts, and a 17-year-old boxer, to name just a few.

While I'm not trying to shout "Boys drool, girls rule!" from the rooftops here (I am a pretty fierce believer that neither sex is better than the other, we simply have different God-given roles to fill), I do, however, have a few thoughts about what these statistics mean and why I find them so encouraging.

1.  Women are excelling.  Women are expanding into fields they haven't yet conquered.
2.  Women are building up other women.  They are coming together and encouraging each other and making each other stronger.
3.  Women are changing the rules.  It isn't just a Western way of thinking any more that women can and should achieve; this thought can become global.
4.  Women are pushing their limits, and finding out that they can be harder, better, faster, and stronger.
5.  Women are beautiful.  All kinds of women.  A big draw for audiences in person and on television for women's beach volleyball was the bikini uniforms.  But it wasn't Kate Upton in a bikini that people were tuning in to see; it was Kerri Walsh, who is a mother of two.  She's taller than most men, she's a mom, she's in her 30s, she's athletically successful, she's muscular and strong and doesn't wear make-up, and millions of people tuned in to see her win her third Olympic medal wearing that bikini.  I think that's saying something.
6.  Women are inspiring the next generation in a way that gives me hope.  For every Jersey Shore guidette, there is also a Missy Franklin.  For every Teen Mom, there is also a Gabby Douglas.  These girls are visible and positive and worthy of being in the spotlight on their talents and work ethic.  These are the kind of women I want our future daughters to be able to see.

On top of all that, the most visible spectator of the entire games?  Kate Middleton.  Showing enthusiasm, pride, sportsmanship, and passion for sport.

Oh, and also, the Spice Girls crushed it at the Closing Ceremonies.  ("Zig-a-zig-ah" and "Hi C Ya" both loosely translate to "Girl Power," if I remember right).

You go, girls, and you go, world!

How To Spend the Night in an Airport (Ugh!)

Last week, I spent the night in the Detroit airport.  This was something I had never done before.  While I could have gotten a hotel room, I just didn't feel like spending $180 for only 6 hours in a bed (though, later, I realized I maybe should have spent that for a shower...).  My severely delayed flight got into Detroit just before midnight, and my rescheduled connection flight the next morning was headed out at 8 AM, so I decided to hunker down and wait it out.  Here's what I discovered:

1.  You just have to stay calm, because there's no use doing anything else.  Sure, my gut reaction in really undesirable situations like this is tears, but sometimes, things happen beyond our control.  Crying or getting angry doesn't help.  It is what it is.  So you better hurry and find a chair before they all get taken.

2.  Speaking of chairs:  Your first task is to scope out your surroundings as quickly as possible.  In the entire rest of the airport, there were just the long rows of chairs with armrests in between all of them - impossible to lay down and sleep in.  However, there was also the above group of lounge chairs that were big enough to curl up in and soft.  And, as you can see, they filled up fast!  Your mission is to find the most comfortable chairs in the airport as fast as possible, before everyone else finds them too.

2a.  But also, just for safety's sake, try to make sure your "bed" for the night is near other people.  Not to be paranoid, but the last thing I would want is for someone to try to get me in the airport when I'm far, far away from all other forms of life!  Also, hang on to your purse while you sleep!

3.  Always carry snacks.  The last time I had eaten was a sandwich at 4 PM, and by the time we landed at midnight, all the food places in the whole airport were closed.  STARVING.  Always keep a bag of Skittles or something handy, just in case the worst happens.  And then if it doesn't, you have a treat!

4.  I usually take a sweater, socks, and a scarf with me on all flights no matter what, but this time, I had never been so thankful to have my carry on luggage as well, because it was COLD in that airport.  Since I was traveling in the summertime, I didn't have that many layers I could even put on, but I ended up putting on 3 t-shirts, both cardigans I had, my socks, and a dress to keep warm, plus a bunch of other tops that I used for my makeshift pillow.  Boho chic.

5.  The airport comes back to life around 5 AM.  So, sleep the best you can, but when 5 o'clock rolls around, just go ahead and get up.  Go the bathroom and freshen up the best you can (I changed clothes, brushed my teeth, and rinsed my face), find your next gate, and get some food in you!  A bagel with cream cheese had never tasted so sweet as the one I got at 5:30 AM from Einstein Bros. Bagels.

As a person who is historically prone to panic in situations in which I feel uncomfortable, I was pretty proud of myself for dealing with my night in the airport with a good bit of sensibility, and I survived just fine.

Not that I ever want to do it again.

What's the worst travel situation you've dealt with?

What's your problem?!

So, if you haven't seen the movie Bridesmaids, stop what you're doing and go rent, buy, watch it right now.

Actually, no don't. Wait until you're with people. It's even funnier with someone, preferably a girlfriend that has the same sense of humor as you.

Either way, you have to see it.
HILARIOUS.
Raunchy, but hilarious.

I have so many favorite parts or "sayings" in the movie, but one of them never ceases to amaze me. In spite of all the chaos and naughtiness, there's a deeper message revealed towards the end that I think pertains to all of us at some point in life.

Click to 1:27!
Pardon any naughty language :)

"You are your problem.
You are also your solution."

How powerful is that?! I can't tell you how many times I look at things in my life that I don't like or things that "are going wrong" and I realize that the reason those things are the way they are, is my own fault! It's because I allowed those things to happen or I allowed that situation to get the best of me or I made that poor choice.

Honestly, that realization can be very disheartening.

HOWEVER.

It's also extremely liberating because I know that I. CAN. FIX. IT! Well, maybe not fix, but I can change it! Not happy about my grades? Change it. Not happy with my health? Change it. Not happy with my spiritual walk with God? Change it. Not happy with a certain relationship or my role in it? Change it. Not happy with certain habits? Change them. Not happy with my unorganized life? Change it.

Yes, it's much easier said than done and yes, making changes is extremely hard. But, aren't those problems in your life hard too? Isn't being down and depressed because of those things, hard? Making changes is only difficult momentarily, while letting your problems consume you and rule your life, is a lifetime of hardship and heartbreak.

Don't get me wrong. There are things in life that sometimes we just cannot control. Those things are hard and all we can do is the best we can in those situations.

What we CAN do is focus on those things in life that are in our control! Stare each of our problems in the face, be completely honest with ourselves, evaluate how we got to this point, and work to make changes from then on.

What you would like to be changed in your own life?
If you are your solution, I have full faith in you that you can make the changes needed to get to where you would like to be!

All my love and best of luck!

This Is a Story About Shoes

This is also a story about bad decisions and getting tricked by celebrities.

Do you guys know about the Mints?  ShoeMint, StyleMint, HomeMint, JewelMint, etc.?  Basically, they are online retail "clubs" that have new products every month.  You join the club, and then each month you check out what's new, and decide if you want to buy something.  I belong to all the Mints.  Mostly because they are celebrity-endorsed and, well, that is a marketing strategy that works well on me.

This is a story about ShoeMint.

ShoeMint's celebrity is Rachel Bilson.  She's actually the cutest person on the planet (and Heidi is her doppleganger).  I trust her choice in footwear.

the shoes i can't resist.
When I saw these shoes, I knew these were the ones.  They were striped and sort of French-looking and had a perfectly pointed toe.  They would be the ones to properly induct me into the ShoeMint club.  I immediately ordered a pair in my regular size.

I imagined running into Rachel Bilson on the street someday.  We would both be wearing our striped black and white flats from ShoeMint.  She would compliment my style.  I would ask her what it's like to kiss Jason Street on Hart of Dixie.  We would probably high-five at some point.  I would be approximately 12 inches taller than her.  It was going to be great.

The shoes arrived.  I tried them on.  They fit, but they fit just right.  Like, if they were a half a millimeter smaller, they would be too small.  "My feet are just swollen!"  I thought.  "It's hot and I just got home from work for the day, and in the morning when my feet are back to normal, these will be just fine!"  I planned an entire outfit around these shoes for the next day.

In the morning, I got dressed, pulled out my beautiful flats, slipped them on, and was out the door, imagining how many compliments I was going to get today!

Half a block later, my heels were screaming in pain as the backs of the shoes ripped off all of my skin.  We're talking blood here.

When I got to work, I immediately took off the shoes, partly to bandage up my raw heels, and partly to look at the soles of the shoes.  It was too late.  The damage had been done.  They were sufficiently scuffed and had some sort of New York City street remnants on them that there was no way I could return them.  DANG YOU RACHEL BILSON.

I was left in a tough position.  They were no longer returnable (and were $79 in the first place[!]).  But Rachel Bilson told me to buy them.  They are very slightly too small.  But Rachel Bilson told me to buy them.  What's a girl to do?

Well, this girl decided she was going to have to wear them anyway.  I'm training my feet to accept that they are going to be in these shoes, and be slightly more crammed than comfortable.  I've been weaning myself from BandAid use and slowly building up callouses in the right places on the backs of my heels.  I've been sprinkling enough baby powder in them each time I wear them to keep my feet dry and cool, because if my feet swell up even the tiniest bit, it's over.

And it's working!  I can make it through a whole day without BandAids now, and even though when I take my shoes off when I get home, I leave a little trail of baby powder footprints across the floor, I'm okay with it.  Because when you buy way-too-expensive shoes that don't actually fit but you keep them instead of returning them because you love them too much and also there is a chance you'll see Rachel Bilson one day and be shoe twins with her...you have to make it work.

Does anyone else sacrifice their feet for fashion?  Please reassure me that I'm not the only one who does things like this.  Please...

Gray Free.

Update.

I posted last week about how my gray hairs were getting out of control.

I am happy to announce that they are gone… for at least 6-8 weeks. Color doesn’t last longer than about 6 weeks on me. Whatever.

Thank you, husband for being my stylist.

The Over-Committer

For as long as I can remember, making other people happy has been one of my top priorities. I cannot say exactly why or if there was a specific situation that sparked this desire, it's just always been apart of who I am. I pride myself on being someone that will do anything and everything for my friends. To say it has been one of the greatest blessings in my life, being there for those I love, would be an understatement.

On that note, this trait has definitely led to some of my most stressful and trying situations as well.
You see, I have a little trouble deciphering balance; balance between the yes's and the no's, the study time and the play time, my job and my workouts, time for friends and time for myself, eating healthy and unhealthy... You get the idea. It just all comes down to balance.
And well.. I've just never been a very good balancer {No, that's not a real word but I'm using it anyway.} Sometimes I become too involved, the situation becomes too much, and/or I try to do too much, then something or someone suffers because of my inability to do all I've committed to do.

For example, earlier this summer, a friend's bachelorrette party was being held in another state about 5 hours away from me. For nearly two months I'd planned on going to this thing. I was really looking forward to it, as this friend and I have talked about her wedding for as long as I can remember. And again, it meant so much to me to be there for her and this special time in her life. Like I said, I'm very passionate about devoting myself to my friendships.

So you can imagine the dilemma I was in when I realized I was having severe complications between attending her party and balancing all the studying for my summer classes. You see, summer school is like a 6 week boot camp of information being constantly pounded in your head over and over and over. You can't get behind. Two summer class days are equivalent to an entire week during the normal school year. It's madness.

Well, I didn't realize how bad things were going to be time/stress wise until about a week before her party... I explained my concerns to her, but still said I would attempt to be there. Come the Wednesday afternoon before the event, I knew I wasn't going to be able to make it.

I was crushed; truly felt like the worst kind of friend. Obviously because I couldn't be there but also because I had let this friend down. This wasn't like a birthday party, these things don't happen all the time. On top of that, I was supposed to carpool with another friend down there as well. So, now that's two friends I let down.

I was a mess.

During this time, a friend reminded me of a verse that has really altered my ways of thinking and I wish I would have put it into application for this situation before things escalated to this level.

"Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No';
anything beyond this comes from the evil one."- Matthew 5:37.

Powerful stuff right there.

Both girls were very good with their reactions to my news. However, I knew deep down I had disappointed them and complicated their situations as well.

It was then that it really hit me how much my over committing and people pleasing can truly get out of hand and it affects more than just my life, but others as well. I realized then that I needed to get real with myself.

I am a busy person. Always have been, always will be, I'm sure. I need to learn to be honest with myself. (Basically, just cut the crap and get my shiz together).
Looking back, I wish I would have told both friends, "I'm in summer school so I can't give a definite answer, but if in anyway possible I can be there, I will!" Also, I should have known better than to involved someone else in my plans because then that complicates their standing; case in point, the friend I was supposed to carpool with.

This verse is something I'm going to strive to live by more often. For all those out there that have some of the same balance struggles and over committing issues, I encourage you to attempt this along with me!
  • As stated above, let your YES mean YES and your NO mean NO.
    • Aka, Just say what you mean and be honest with both others and yourself.
  • Even though it's hard, try and I mean seriously try to find the BALANCE in life.
    • Decide what's important and what's not and what takes priority over what.
  • REALLY think about a situation before you automatically say yes and commit to it.
  • If you commit to something, just freaking DO it.
  • When you are wrong, just admit it and don't make excuses; apologize, and try to move forward.
    • But most importantly, LEARN from it.
  • You just can't do it all. And that's OK.

Excuse me Sir.

In the last couple of years I have been traveling on airplanes more and more. I actually really dislike airplane travel. The combination of the smell from the plane and the air is enough to make me sick. But I suck it up to be places fast because I wanna go fast, I wanna go fast… name that movie.

Depending on how tired I am, my mood, and which young adult novel I have in my carry on I do not want to talk to my fellow passengers. But usually, I love to get to know the people around me. I love feeling them out to see if they want to talk too. The distraction makes the flight go by.

On my recent flight back to the great state of Oklahoma I had a layover in Houston. I was one of the last people to board due to only flying standby because I’m cheap. I had my big rolling suitcase carry on and I’m looking for an empty seat and I see one, next to a man that looked like he could handle lifting my suitcase in the overhead bin. So I kindly asked him “Excuse me Sir, can you help me with my bag?” and then I sat next to him.

He was one of those passengers I just knew I needed to talk to. He had a devotional book in his lap, a Blackberry AND an iPhone, and he looked like he was a football player, I think he was probably 7 feet tall and 300 lbs. Or something like that. I let him do his own thing for a bit before I made my move. Normally the usual airplane convo starts with a “where are you traveling to?” “are you from insert airplane destination city?” but for some reason the only thing that came out of my mouth was….

“I have more arm hair than you”

Weird? Yes. True? Very. Why did he have no arm hair?? Well that was all it took for me to basically get his life story. He was an old Oklahoma State University football player. My alma mater and hometown. And now he is a professional football player. He also loves Jesus, does not know the Kadashians (I asked), and loves Braums (hamburger joint back home).

I had a feeling he was big time, went with my gut and it paid off. Well not literally, I was also hoping he would give me money after he found out my husband doesn’t get paid and we move every 3 months. But he didn’t. That’s okay. That might have been awkward for the other guy sitting next to us.

I told him I was going to creep and take a picture of him and tweet it and I did (this is not the picture I tweeted, this is just another creeper picture I took of him. I wanted to protect his face, ya know, cause I'm sure he is reading this). And now he is following me on Twitter too. He only follows maybe 100 people compared to the thousands that follow him. Oh, and he is now following me on Instagram. I'm so cool. #Brag.

My moral of the story… always talk to strangers. On airplanes.

Has anyone else ever met a "famous" person on an airplane? Anyone good you've sat next to? How about falling in love on an airplane? That is the ultimate story!
